Rumours are circulating and Mark Lanegan is in the picture to become lead singer of Mad Season.
Layne and Baker may have passed away but it will still be interesting to see this new project, if indeed it happens.
Read all here.
In other news, here is a pick that was sent by Mike Starr's Facebook page

There's a new picture that has surfaced apparently showing Layne in October 2001:

For full details you need to head on over to GrungeReport.
In all honesty, he looks as if he is enjoying what is going on, and from what the 'source' giving details makes out, he is.
By the way, can we trust a lone source? Adriana Rubio recieved heaps of criticism so there is no reason to believe everything which is said by GrungeReport's 'source'.
EDIT: since this has been posted, the 'source' was false and it is indeed from 1998 @ Cantrell's gig.

So Ryan Adams has done a cover of Nutshell.. You can view an article about it Here.
Anyone might think he hasn't got anymore songs of his own after This Cover.
Anyway, the Nutshell cover sucks, and the Down in a Hole cover is similar to a country ballad.. Fair game.

Just scouting some old posts about Layne and references to him.
Those that know already will remember Metallica referenced him in the album Death Magnetic, to be a source of inspiration to the album.
Indeed this song: Shine [video] [article] - is about him. Theyve come along way since mocking his addiction.
